Castles of Munster: Ballynoe, Limerick
R3532 | taken 10 years ago, Wednesday, 1 July, 2015 | by Garry Dickinson
The remains of a rectangular thinly walled tower of two altered levels under a vault are in a farmyard. It was held by the MacSheehys in the 16th century but granted to Sir H Oughtred in 1587. By 1657 it was described as 'an old ruinous castle'. By 1840 it had been much reduced in height, and suffered further indignities when it was converted into a farm building.
