This inscription, which dates from 1930, is located on a wall in Change Alley EC3V 9AZ near Lombard Street and has the following wording and carving:

the Site of
Garraways
Coffee House
Rebuilt 1874

Carving of a Grasshopper

SET HERE 1930

Incidentally, the history of Garraways Coffee House can be found on a few
websites. Also, the grasshopper was the family symbol of Sir Thomas Gresham who
